When we sold the dairy cows, we still wanted to own cattle, just not milk anymore. We had the facilities to house cattle and needed an outlet for hay that was not the quality we could offer for sale. Our daughter and her husband have partershipped with us on the beef cattle. Although not the most popular breed at the moment, we prefer Herefords and know from experience that it's not the breed, but what they are fed that makes the meat. They are farm raised and naturally fed. Our cow/calf operation is pushing close to 100 head. The heifers are kept for replacement cows and the steers are sold as custom beef. We take orders for beef. It can be processed into all hamburger; hamburger, steaks, and roasts; or all cuts including short ribs, tongue, jerkey meat, oxtail, and liver. It can be sold by the piece, quarter, or half.
